NRB Accounts
Usually three types of NRB Account offered by scheduled banks, which are NRB Savings Account, NRB current Account, & Foreign Currency Account
NRB Savings Account
NRB Savings Account is a regular savings account in local currency designed for the NRBs who want to save their earned money to utilize it in future or to facilitate their family maintenance.
- This is an interest bearing Taka account.
- Can open this account from abroad.
- Mandate can operate the Account
- Any NRB who is between 18 to 65 years of old can open this account.
- The beneficiaries of NRBs will be also eligible to open this Account.

Required Documents
- The NRB must have valid residence visa/work permit
- Bank prescribed account opening form duly filled up
- 2 passport size photograph
- 1 pp size nominee photo attested by account holder
- Identification: Photocopy of Valid passport (6 pages) with due attestation. In case of foreign passport attested photocopy of ‘no visa required for travel to Bangladesh’ page required
- Address Proof: Resident Permit/Work ID
- Other documents as per bank requirement
NRB Current Account
This is the current account designed for NRBs by the different scheduled banks.
- This is noninterest Bearing Taka Account
- Zero Balance Account opening
- No restriction on frequent transactions
- Any NRB who is between 18 to 65 years of old can open this account
- The beneficiaries of NRBs will be also eligible to open this Account

Foreign Currency (FC) Account
FC account can be opened in USD/GBP/Euro without giving restriction on transaction frequency. The account can also be operated by the mandate of the account holder. Account fund remains in foreign currency and is freely remittable abroad and it can be encashed in Bangladesh in local Currency.
- Normally account can be opened with currency USD, GBP, Yen, EURO.
- Deposit can be made in foreign currency only.
- Cash can be withdrawn in local currency.
- Fund Remittance (in both LC and FC) to any place in and out of the country (without restriction).
- Fund can be used to make investment in Wage Earners’ Development Bond.
- International Debit/Credit Card can be linked with USD currency.
